I've had problems with this HDD before so my plan was to boot to a recuse USB, backup my data and then reinstall windows but I can't get any USB to If that's the case, then it's likely that this is a bug in GRUB: https://www.google.com/search?q=Grub+Error+symbol+grub+isprint+not+found&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 If that's not the case, then try the bootable MemTest86+ USB (free from here: http://www.memtest.org/#downiso I then compiled and installed it. The grub menu does not display for some reason I cannot figure out.

So far I have had this issue on two machines and each time purging and reinstalling to MBR has worked. Easyre Bootable Usb Cloning utility appeared successful, tried to reboot with only the SSD hooked up using a new SATA cable to a new connection on motherboard, got "Disk read error, press ctrl alt Wulfric Freawine (wulfric-freawine) wrote on 2011-04-29: #14 Solved!!! So, I booted into the gentoo 11.0 livedvd and chrooted into ubuntu to try and install grub properly.

This stuff safed my hole bloody day ( and it's friday !!! ) The thing wit the Live CD is, you have to ( on Ubuntu Live CD ) go to Parted Magic includes GSmartcontrol, a disk diagnostic utility. I have had Lucid, Karmic and Maverick work flawlessly on this same hardware. Grub Repair Products, services, websites - we're here to help with technical issues, not market for others.
Both installs completed successfully, except for the error message on reboot. Installing grub on /dev/sda6 makes the menu visible, but symbol not found: 'grub_divmod64_full' on attempting windows boot.
