If I also convert my data in to a range and try to insert PT, I get the same error. I have been downloading out of a main data warehouse and trying to create a pivot directly off the download. a location on your company Intranet. Then re-open and it should work.
Please help! Well, despite what the error message suggests, it is probably not your data source that is invalid, it is most likely the filename of your workbook that causes this problem. Thanks! When I did a "Save As" in Excel the file type was "Web page".

Is the range defined by cell references or by a range name? Even tables from the 2003 sheets which work fine in pivot tables dont work in 2007 !!! Make sure you save your data file first, before you attempt to create a pivot table. It's opening the file from a temporary folder.
